Ruud Van Nistelrooy turns 40 today.


The Netherlands and Manchester United legend was once one of the best strikers in the world scoring a total of 284 goals in 519 appearances for club and country.


Van Nistelrooy started his professional footballing career at FC Den Bosch and then went onto to the biggest clubs in the world including Man Utd, Real Madrid and Hamburger SV.


The birthday boy is now the assistant manager of the Netherlands national team while Danny Blind is the head coach.
