Tour De France 2013 Stage 13 Tours To Saint Amand Montrond Preview

Updated: July 11, 2013

After a sprinter’s finish in Tours, we set off again from Tours for another Sprinter’s finish in Saint Amand Montrond for a short 173 kilometre race. This is a stage that Mark Cavendish should win, without letting Greipel or Sagan get more stage wins than him or for Kittel to increase his advantage.

Stage 13 Tour De France 2013

What To Expect

This is a flat stage and once more is perfect for any sprinter, there is only one categorised climb (cat 4) which is barely noticeable and will most likely go to the inevitable break-away leader. The intermediate sprint is 112 kilometres into the race and will most likely be contested by the escapee group. There are many forest routes, trees that shade the road, so not a lot of wind is expected and the sun shouldn’t bother the cyclists too much, if the sun does decide to appear.

I’d be surprised if another race is dominated by a German, so I think that either Cannondale will perform very well for Peter Sagan to get his 2nd victory or Matt Goss might finally try and compete for what should be his type of race, his team-mates have done everything right until now, so he should eventually try and take advantage. After a very disappointing second place for Cavendish, he could surprise us all in typical Cavendish style

or completely flop and barely compete in the last sprint to the end. I think Peter Sagan will win this race.
