It’s the beginning of the week so that can only mean ‘Top Sport Stories Of The Week’

Hernandez scores against Stoke

Chelsea beat Manchester City 2-1 in a pre-mature title contender with Torres scoring the winner in the 90th minute from a back-pass header from Nastastic which was mis-read by Hart and falling to Torres. Manchester United beat Stoke 3-2 with a Hernandez header in the 80th minute helping the reigning champions pick up the three points. Liverpool thrashed West Brom 4-1 with 3 goals from Saurez and 1 from Sturridge. Arsenal continued their unbeaten streak against Crystal Palace 0-2 in a tightly contested match in which Arteta was sent off. Southampton managed to beat an on-form Fulham side 2-0 with both goals coming in the first-half from Lambert and Rodriguez. Everton beat Aston Villa 0-2 with one Belgian, Lukaku, scoring from outside the box and the other Belgian, Benteke, having a penalty saved. Norwich drew 0-0 against Cardiff where the main talking point came just before the referee blew the whistle for full-time as Fer put the ball in the back of the net when he was supposed to pass it back to the opposition for having put the ball out of play when a Norwich player was down. Tottenham fended off Hull with an 80th minute penalty from Soldado to win the match at White Hart Lane 1-0. Gus Poyat got his first victory as Sunderland boss as they beat Newcastle 2-1 with a late screamer from Borini sealing the win. Swansea drew 0-0 against West Ham in a not so very memorable match as the goalkeepers were the highlights of the match in what wasn’t even a very difficult day for either.

Rangers Lose First Home Match Of The Season

Detroit Red Wings have had a week to forget losing 6-1 at home to Ottawa Senators and in over-time to New York Rangers at home. Boston Bruins beat San Jose Shark’s great run of form with a last second goal to win 1-2 apart from that The Sharks have yet again enjoyed their week by beating Montreal Canadiens 2-0 and beating Ottawa Senators 5-2 with Stalock having an outstanding performance in goal for the Sharks as the Sharks stay top in the Division, Conference and League. New York Rangers sit above bottom in the league having played their first game of the season at Madison Square on Monday night but disappointingly losing against Montreal Canadiens 2-0. The Avalanche continues as Colorado top their Division (and 2nd in the Conference and League behind Sharks) by winning impressively against Carolina Hurricanes 2-4 and just about beat Winnipeg Jets 2-3.

Sebastian Vettel has become the 2013 World Drivers champion and Red Bull Racing have won the Constructors Championship after a thrilling race at the Buddh Circuit in India. Nico Rosberg held on for second and Romain Grosjean scored an unlikely third, despite a last lap altercation with his team mate Kimi Raikkonen.

Ex F1 driver Robert Kubica has won the WRC-2 series in Spain. Next season he will move up to the top level of Rallying as he hopes for bigger and better things.

Mercedes chief Ross Brawn has announced he is to leave the team at the end of this season. The move appears to be influenced by tensions between himself and Paddy Lowe over who leads the team.
