PSG lost more ground in their hunt to retain the title as strong contenders, Marseille, St Etienne, Monaco and Lyon already have a 4 point advantage on the rich club from Paris.

PSG               1-1               Ajaccio

Cavani (87′)                   Pedretti (10′)

After a very unconvincing draw in week 1, Laurent Blanc really needed a win to show a bit of contention this season. They dominated the game throughout but struggled to get a grip of the game. Pedretti scored from 20 yards out. Cavani rescued a point for PSG near the end by blasting it in. Laurent Blanc seems to be under immense pressure now to get that first competitive win.

Monaco                    4-1                   Montpellier

Falcoa (P)(19′)                                 Montano (25′)

Riviere (45′,59′,81′)

Monaco have shown a certain authority over PSG as probably the second favourites to take the title. Falcao opened the score when he put away a penalty from a foul on Ocampas. Montano gave Montpellier a bit of hope when he put them back on level terms. Then Riviere took over by scoring his first hat-trick of his career. The first of his goals was a neat lob over the goalkeeper who rushed out of his goal to get the ball. The second came from a corner which met the side of his boot and went in. The third was a header from a deflection when the goalkeeper saved an earlier shot. In between those goals, Congre was sent off for knocking Carrasco, being the last man on the ball.

FC Sochaux          1-3          Lyon

Boudebouz (P)(5′)                  Benzia (36′),

Lacazette (44′),

Gourcuff (49′)

Dakambu was fouled very near the start that gave Sochaux a chance to go ahead early on, Boudebouz put away the penalty. Benzia got Lyon back in the game when he was on the end of a nice Gourcuff pass to smash it into the top corner. Lyon built their way to the next goal with nice passing football that ended up at Lacazette’s feet for him to drive it low and score. Gourcuff who played brilliantly in their win against Nice got a deserved goal for another good performance.

Marseille    2-0    Evian

Gignac (19′)

Payet (68′)

Marseille were looking to get their second win in as many games against a weak Evian side. Gignac put in a great performance that started of with a goal after receiving a lob-pass and dribbling around John Mensah. Payet got Marseille’s second goal when Valbuena passed it to Payet for him to do well by dribbling past John Mensah and slot it away.

Lorient              2-1             Nantes

Aboubakar (40′)                  Veigneau (18′)

Aliadiere (62′)

Lorient have started of the season pretty poorly, firstly by losing to Lille in a very poor match and winning just about against Nantes. Veigneau scored first when he broke away and tried crossing it but it ended up turning into a top-corner shot. Lorient got back into the game when Aliadiere put Aboubakar through in on goal and shooting at close range. Aliadiere topped it all off when he scored a stunning free-kick on his return after having missed the first match.

Bastia          2-0          Valenciennes

Bruno (77′)

Ba (80′)

The outcome of this game seemed obvious when Valenciennes thrashed Toulouse 3-0 and Bastia lost their first game 2-0 against newly promoted Nantes. But Bastia shocked everyone by playing better than Valenciennes, creating more chances and winning the game. The first goal came late on though as Yatabare headed the ball down for Bruno to drive the ball low down. Yatabare was involved in the second goal as well when he crossed it into the box, only for Ba to head it in.

Nice                    2-1                    Rennes

Cvitanich (21′)                          Oliveira (45+4′)

Pied (51′)

Nice scored first when Rennes’ defenders failed to clear the ball properly and basically gave the ball to Cvitanich so he could score. Oliveira gave Rennes a glimps of hope before half-time when he scored a header from a Jebbour cross, althoug Rennes played terribly throughout the match. Pied capitalised just after half-time when Jebbour lost the ball, he picked the ball up and scored to give Nice their first win of the season.

Reims              2-1              Lille

Albaek (8′)                           Bassa (89′)

Glombard (68′)

Lille had won their first game against Lorient although they didn’t play that well. Lille were made to pay against Reims, Albaek scored first with a great free-kick into the top corner. Their second goal came courtesy of a goal-mouth scramble, in which Courtet controlled the ball then passed it to Glombard for him to finish it of. Lille scored a late consolation goal from Bassa.

St Etienne    1-0    Guingamp

Lemoine (53′)

St Etienne were another club who are looking at a high place finish and to finish the second week on six points. They dominated tthe first-half but were unable to make the most of their chances. Not long after the second-half started, Lemoine and Brandao exchanged passes outside the box for Lemoine to volley it in. Guingamp reacted well to conceding the goal by creating more chances although they didn’t really threaten St Etienne.

Toulouse         1-1         Bordeaux

Ben Basat (45′)               Diabate (44′)

After both having miserable first matches, these two teams wanted to put those results behind them and try and at least play better. They did both play better but no team were dominant enough to take all three points, Planus got a red card for taking down Ben Yedders, reducing Bordeaux to ten men. Bordeaux reacted to the sending off and started to increase the intensity. They got the first goal of the game when they profited from a poor Toulouse clearance to but Diabate in through on goal to score one-on-one. Ben Basat equalised for Toulouse by tapping in a rebound, by that time Toulouse took over a bit more of possession.
