Former Liverpool & Stoke City player joins Colwyn Bay

Updated: January 7, 2016
COLWYN BAY have secured the signing of former Liverpool and Stoke City utility player Connor Roberts-Nurse.

Roberts-Nurse joins Colwyn Bay from Trafford becoming the first signing of the January transfer window but the club have also announced the departure of top scorer John Marsden.
Colwyn Bay’s new signing started his footballing career in the youth system at Premier League club Liverpool.

Liverpool released the 22-year-old before Roberts-Nurse made appearances at Stoke City Under-18s, Tranmere Rovers, Wrexham AFC, Tamworth and Marine.

The Seagulls will have Roberts-Nurse available to play against Whitby Town on Saturday in the Evo-Stik League

Colwyn Bay manager Kevin Lynch said: “He is a right-sided played with power and pace, who likes to get forward and will bring a new dimension to our play,”

It has been mixed feelings for the Seagulls boss when losing their star player Marsden to National League North side Stockport County in the process.

Lynch added: “John has been great and it has been a pleasure working with him. I would love to have worked with him a lot longer,  but this is a great opportunity for him to step up to a higher level and we couldn’t stand in his way.

“I’m sure he will do well at Stockport and we wish him all the very best.”

Marsden joined ex-Bay boss Neil Young at County having played 21 times for the Seagulls since signing in September and scoring six goals.

Meanwhile, the manager is hoping to bring in a couple more players over the next week: “We are working so hard to bring in more players who will enhance us and help take us forward, and hopefully we will have some more news on that next week,” he added.
