STATEMENT: Changes to Crusaders’ Club Structure

NORTH WALES CRUSADERS directors have confirmed the club is undergoing a restructure, with boardroom changes expected to be announced before the start of next season.

The club was set up just over four years ago by a local consortium, picking up three trophies in their first four years.

But, as the League 1 side enters its fifth year, it’s expected new faces will come in to help drive the club forward.

The expected change will see chief executive Jamie Thomas step down in the next few weeks with new parties joining the board to help chart the way in the future, along with the existing other directors who will remain at the club.

Speaking about the restructure, Thomas commented: “The last four years have been a real journey with a lot of hard work, fun, some great rewards and also our fair share of tough days, but overall the people make it what it is and I’ve been fortunate enough to enjoy working with some brilliant individuals.

“The fans, sponsors, board, partners and staff have all been fantastic and I thank them greatly for their efforts.

“Together, we’ve enjoyed watching over 100 players make their debut for North Wales Crusaders and entertain us with a great brand of rugby and a lot of success and there’ll be some moments which will live long in the memory.

“After four years, I think the time is now right to move on and take on some new challenges, but I’ll enjoy being in the stands with my kids on a matchday, soaking up our legendary atmosphere.

“A lot of hard work has gone into the structure for the 2016 season over the last couple of months, which will be finalised over the next few weeks in conjunction with the Rugby Football League.

“Then, it’s nose to the grind stone for the year ahead.”

North Wales Crusaders travel to Batley Bulldogs on January 23 for their opening pre-season friendly, before returning to The Glyndwr University Racecourse Ground.
