Chelsea’s crushing victory over Tim Sherwood’s Tottenham side now puts them seven points clear in the race for the title, however once again Mourinho insists that Man City is still favourite. Manchester City now have 3 games in hand over leaders Chelsea, but with their loss to Wigan in the FA cup at the weekend and their defeat to Barcelona in the Champions league can City come back?

Errors cost Tottenham the game, Jan Vertonghen’s poor back pass handed Eto’o a simple finish to put the blues 1-0 up. Eto’o also exhibited a comical mime after scoring using the corner flag as a walking stick following Mourinho’s comments about him. Younes Kaboul then made a rash challenge on Eto’o which resulted in a penalty and a sending off for the Tottenham defender, Eden Hazard then converted this with ease. Demba Ba came on for Eto’o and made it 3-0 pretty quickly following a slip by Sandro. He then finished off the scoring by intercepting the ball after Kyle walker’s poor header back to Lloris and making it 4-0.

It was a very harsh result for Spurs, they started the game looking to prevent Chelsea from attacking and trying to catch them on the break which they managed for the 1st 45 minutes. They continued where they left off at the end of the first half at the start of the second half and a clean sheet was still evident until an error from Vertonghen gave Mourinho’s side the break they needed. The loss now leaves Spurs four points off the top four positions but to make it worse for Tim Sherwood’s side, they have played more games than the three teams above them. This see’s their hopes of Champion’s League football next year fading.

Cardiff gained a vital 3 points at the weekend beating Fulham 3-1 in what was a crucial game for both teams. The victory is only Cardiff’s second league win since Solskjaer took over as manager replacing Malky Mackay in January. This victory now sees them level on points with West Brom in what is a tight bottom half of the table. Two goals from defender Steven Caulker and an own goal from Sascha Riether gave Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side a much deserved 3 points. Solskjaer believes that his team only need to win four of their last nine fixtures to have any chance of staying in the Premier League for a second year. I believe Cardiff can do this, it has taken Solskjaer a while to make his mark but the team are beginning to come together, also with the Vincent tan controversy surrounding the club it must have been hard for the players to concentrate on up and coming games. Although however it just seems to get worse and worse for Fulham who are the only team in my opinion that may not have a chance of
