VIDEO: ALONSO’s BEST TEAM RADIO IN 2017
Here are the best team radio messages we have heard from Fernando...
This has certainly been a week to forget for Manuel Pellegrini and his team after losing to Liverpool on the weekend in what was a thrilling contest between 2 of the top teams fighting for the league. Last night they faced a Sunderland team looking for 3 vital points to help escape relegation, City were ahead after 2 minutes thanks to Fernandinho’s powerful shot, but went behind after the break as Connor Wickham scored twice in the space of 10 minutes shocking the City fans. Perhaps fans felt that their title hopes were disappearing for a while but like all teams challenging for the title, you need a bit of luck on your side at times and with only 2 minutes to go Samir Nasri’s shot was fumbled by Sunderland’s goal keeper Vito Mannone and landed into his own net.
Nasri could have scored a 3rd goal in the 90th minute but the disappointment on his face and his reaction said it all, the team and fans now have to hope that Chelsea slip up in the title race and that Liverpool slip up in their winning streak to give City a chance to come back. It’s not over for City let’s be clear on that but with only a few games to go they really need help from the other teams to hand them the title this year. I would love it to go down to the wire as it did in 2012, with the excitement and nervousness all rolled into one on the last game but having it come down to the
last game will always be exciting for the fans.
Wenger hopes for Everton to slip up
With the race for the title in full swing and club after club getting sucked into the relegation battle you wouldn’t think anything else could happen in this nail-biting season, but the race for the top 4 is really hotting up with Everton challenging Arsenal and trying to knock one of the big guns off the top 4 perch.
After Arsenal’s 3-1 win over West Ham and Everton losing to Crystal Palace, Arsene Wenger is hoping for more slip ups from Everton in the coming games. But Martinez believes the pressure isn’t on him and his team but Arsenal and I believe he is right. Arsenal have been in the top 4 consistently year after year, all Arsenal fans have been yearning for a trophy but seem happy to settle for a top 4 place at the end of each season. If they lose that and the possibility of not winning the FA cup this season this could definitely be seen as the worst year for Arsenal in a while. Martinez is right he has nothing to lose but a lot to gain and to achieve Champions League football would be one of Everton’s best achievements, will this come down to the last game too??
