Tobago player Iraq Thomas was hungry for a quick century last weekend.
Thomas went onto finish at a staggering 131 runs from just 31 balls including 15 sixes and five fours.
The Trinidad & Tobago Guardian reported the 23-year-old was playing for his team Mason Hall in a T20 competition ran by the Tobago Association.
Thomas told the Trinidad & Tobago Guardian: “I was just very happy to reach my first T20 century. I have played cricket for a while and to get this century in the shortest format left me very happy. I played for Queen’s Park in Trinidad, so coming into this tournament I had some good experience having played at that level in Trinidad.”
The ground was described as ‘not the biggest’ but Thomas took the full advantage: “You can even chase down 180 on this ground because it is not the biggest and it gave me real confidence to go after the bowlers. I never thought I would get the runs as quickly as I did but after hitting a few, I realised that something special can happen out there and it came through.”
To the team selectors of the Trinidad & Tobago Cricket Board, give Thomas a call. Who knows, he may lift the World T20 trophy one day.
What was the highest set of runs you scored for your cricket team?
